Volume 32

When Kagome followed the two shikigami girls to the waterfall, she finds Kikyou submerged in the water. The shikigami girls retell how Kikyou got injured, how Naraku's miasma did great damage to her counterfeit body. The miasma didn't destory the holy bones and burial soil quickly, but as time went on, her body started to decay from one hole in the middle of her chest. The girls say that it's only Kagome who can save her. Kagome says she'll definately save Kikyou, which shocks the girls a little, then they continue saying that Kagome has to go in the water and just touch the hole. When she goes in the water, it hurts but she proceeds to Kikyou. Kagome and Kikyou are suddenly pulled into the water and Kagome realizes how much miasma came out of Kikyou and feels sorry for her. Above Kagome, she sees a glittering light, which is the pure burial soil. Kagome takes it and pushes it into Kikyou's open chest. The burial soil is driving the miasma out and the wound is healing. Kagome says that the process hurts, but she pays her mind since she knows she's saving a life ... well, she's not really alive but you get the idea. The water clears up and Kikyou is saved by Kagome, who becomes unconscious and passes out on top of Kikyou. Kagome wakes up and sees Kikyou standing and calls out to her. Kikyou asks Kagome why she had saved her, and Kagome answers that it wasn't a matter of choice, there was someone who needed her help so she gave it. So, Kikyou says that she won't thank her for saving her. She tells Kagome that Inuyasha will be coming for her soon, then starts to walk off. But Kagome shouts out that Inuyasha wants to see her a lot, but Kikyou tels her that she needs to hide herself so she can build up her power again. Kikyou is walking and talks to herself saying how there wasn't any doubt in Kagome's heart, because the spot she sealed off is still warm.

Inuyasha find out that Kagome went through the barrier from Miroku, Sango, and Shippou. We go back to Kagome and she's think about what the two shikagami girls said to her, that she had to choose. Then it clicked in Kagome's mind, that they thought she wouldn't save Kikyou because of the whole Inuyasha, Kikyou, and Kagome triangle. Kagome starts to get angry because she can't believe she would do such a terrible thing. Inuyasha and the others appear and find that Kagome is alright. Inuyasha in the other hand isn't really focusing on Kagome, he's looking for Kikyou, this upsets Kagome. She tels him that if it's Kikyou he's looking for, she already left. Inuyasha and shocked to hear that she's still alive and Kagome is thinking of what Kikyou said, of how Inuyasha would be coming to find her, but Kagome says she was wrong, that Inuyasha only came to find Kikyou. Inuyasha walks up to Kagome who's still looking to the ground, but she snaps at him and tells him that she hates him and that it's all his fault. Inuyasha looks stunned and yells back at her that she better stop it or he'll start pissing her off, so she did the norm of what she would in these type of situations, she sat him. On the next page, Miroku tells Inuyasha to apologize and asks him if he's still going to look for Kikyou. Inu says that since Kagome is in this condition he can't, but Sango gets angry and says if Kagome sent you off with a smile on her face you would of went. So, since everyone is aganist him, Inuyasha sits near Kagome and asks her if she's still mad, Kagome asks him if he's still going after Kikyou. Inuyasha says that he saw a human shaped thing Kikyou was controlling, and found out Kikyou was hurt badly from Naraku's miasma. He asks her how Kikyou's condition was, and Kagome tells him that she was unconscious, but she purified the miasma. Inuyasha looks at Kagome and asks her she did that all for Kikyou, and says yeah. Kagome tells Inuyasha to go after Kikyou if he wants to, but he said he won't since Kagome was the one who helped her, so he knows she's fine. It goes quit and Inuyasha tells Kagome to take back what she said, but she doesn't remember, which gets him angry. The scene changes and Abi-hime is talking to her mother about killing Naraku, that nothing good will come out of anything while dealing with him.

A scene appears of the lady and attendants sitting around a baby, but not any baby, Naraku's baby or his heart. They can't figure out why he doesn't even cry like a normal child should at that age, then the lady is trying to recall what happened the day she gave birth. All she remembers is that everyone who was in the room with her died and that some mysterious person came, other than those two details, she can't remember a thing. Kohaku passes by and the old man calls out to him that he's going the wrong way with the firewood. The old man introduces Kohaku to the others and says that he's new. The lady says she wants to see him properly, so Kohaku turns to face her. The lady swears that she saw him before, but the old man said that was impossible, since he's new. Kohaku leaves and thinks to himself for the real reason he's there, to help Kanna protect the baby for Naraku. He says how the village is peaceful, and can swear that he lived in a village similar to it before, but it's not all clicking in his mind yet. Nearby a bridge, The Inu-gumi are talking to a villager about blood-sucking birds, that there have been rumours, but no sightings so far. Kagome says they have no clues to where the birds' nest can be, so Miroku buts in and says that they have no choice but to stay at the village tonight. Sango is about to give him one of her looks when she sees him walk off with to pretty girls. The scene changes and it's Kagura thinking to herself about Hakudoushi and him not having a heart. Hakudoushi shows up and asks her what she's thinking about, but she tells him to shut up, that she can think about what ever she wants. Scene changes again and shows Tekkei thinking to herself about the mysterious hijiri-sama and how dozens of youkai are searching for that one person. The scene goes back to Abi-hime and see spots the saimyoushou watching her, so she makes her birds kil off the insects. Kagura observes this and knows that Abi-hime isn't following Naraku anymore. Kohaku and the old man are talking again, and he asks Kohaku if he lost his family in a war, but he can't remember. There's a noise and everyon looks up to find Abi's birds flying into the village, attacking everyone. Two birds fly near the old man, but Kohaku kills them and stands infront of the man, then he tells him to go inside and warns him not to leave. The scene changes and it shows the Inu-gumi rushing to the village, with a view of the birds flying overhead. Kagome then senses one shikon fragment, and realizes Kohaku is there.
